Thirukoshtiyur Arulmigu.Sowmiyanarayanaperumal temple is administrated Sivagangai Samasthanam Devasthanam. The present Rani of Sivagnagai D.S.K.MADURANTAKI NACHIYAR is the hereditary trustee of this temple and Devasthanam.
Thirukoshtiyur Sowmiya Narayana Perumal Temple is an ancient shrine located about 10 km from Tiruppattur in Sivagangai District TamilNadu. It is one of the 108 Divya Desams Lord Vishnu,revered by the Tamil hymns of Alwars.
Thirukoshtiyur Sowmya Narayana Perumal Temple is considered as the southern Badrinath. The vimana in this temple is Ashtanga and it rises to a height of 96 ft. Most noteworthy feature of the shrine is that the deity can be found in all three postures -standing, sitting and sleeping.
It is said that Shri Peri Alwar has sung about this temple as 'Aayarpaadi'. This place has an importance among Vaishnavites.

Sri Sowmya Narayana Perumal Thirukovil, surrounded by a high walls on its four sides, with a Raja Gopuram (Main tower) at the entrance which shows the gigantism. On reaching the temple, one can see the Vimaanam which is very big and widely spread.
Ashtaanga vimanam. This kind of vimaanam is a rare one that is found only in few temples like koodal Azhager temple in Madurai, Vaikunda perumal koil in Kanchipuram and in Thirupporur. Now this vimanam entire make up with gold gilt work is on processing.
